Computer Measurement Group Announces zSeries Track for CMG’07 in San Diego, December 2-7, 2007

Track Covers New Approaches for Handling Mainframe Performance Opportunities

TURNERSVILLE, NJ, October 23, 2007 - The Computer Measurement Group (CMG), the Information Technology professionals responsible for planning, measuring and managing the world’s largest IT infrastructures, announced today that it has finalized its annual zSeries track for the 33rd Computer Measurement Group 2007 annual conference taking place from December 2 -7 in San Diego, CA at the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

The zSeries track will encompass aspects of the mainframe including planning for newer mainframe CPU technologies; the hidden costs of TCP/IP on z/OS; WLM performance analyses, realizing the value of zIIPs, zAAPs and the MRU as well as the wealth of information found in RMF data.

"We are so excited to bring this zSeries track to conference attendees," said Kathy Steffens, the Program Chairman for CMG'07. "This year the mainframe will be addressed as part of an overall performance consideration for the 'whole' enterprise given from a 'user’s perspective.' There will be many in-depth experiential and key performance tips available in the sessions. In addition, there will be a panel discussion where conference attendees have the opportunity to speak about their real life concerns about any and all performance issues for the zSeries and then, have them addressed by leaders in the field."

Some of the excellent zSeries sessions included in the conference are:

  • Lin Merritt: "Planning for Newer Mainframe CPU Technologies (zAAPs, zIIPs and OOCoD)".
  • Ivan Gelb: "Top Ten Best Practices for Improved z/OS Performance and Lower TCO".
  • Kathy Walsh: "zIIPs and zAAPs - How Special Are They?"
  • Glenn R. Anderson: "Enterprise Workload Manager: What's the E All About in EWLM?"
  • Peter Enrico: "zIIPs and zAAPs - Understanding Transaction Flows and CPU Measurements"
  • Thomas Halinski & Eric Repec: "E2E Performance Monitoring to the Mth Tier (Mainframe Integrated) - The New Industry Standard"

Also, Ivan L. Gelb’s panel titled "zSeries Performance Q & A" will address real life concerns about all performance issues for zSeries.

The DB2 sub-track will include a panel headed up by the leaders in this field with a DB2 Q&A. They will address real life DB2 concerns.
