Computer Measurement Group Announces Highlights from CMG’07 in San Diego, December 2-7, 2008

Run IT Cheaper, Faster, and Smarter

TURNERSVILLE, NJ, December 17, 2007 - The Computer Measurement Group (CMG), the Information Technology professionals responsible for planning, analyzing and managing the world’s largest IT infrastructures, announced today the highlights from CMG’07 held December 2-7 in San Diego at the Hyatt Grand Manchester hotel.

CMG’07 was designed to help enterprise-wide system architects plan their infrastructure and take advantage of existing as well emerging technologies.

"Managing and forecasting the IT requirements for a complex enterprise is a daunting task, complicated by new technologies and applications that must be evaluated and possibly adopted," said Dr. Bernie Domanski, Professor of Computer Science with the City University of New York/CSI. "CMG’s vendor-neutral focus on practical, hands-on experience coupled with presenting tutorial and state-of-the-art presentations is unparalleled. In addition, attendees have the opportunity to personally network with world experts as well as peers."

The conference focused on systems performance evaluation, capacity planning, and IT management. Key themes explored included the explosive growth in the use of virtualization in order to add new levels of efficiency to the infrastructure, as well as the implications of Web2.0 applications on existing IT architectures. Office productivity was a key issue. Noted columnist and author, Dale Dauten also explained the secrets of success in a complex organizational environment.

Planning for green datacenters will be one of the themes for the 2008 CMG conference in Las Vegas. As organizations struggle to reduce the costs of power and cooling through new levels of efficiency, CMG’08 will have sessions to help companies integrate new technologies along with virtualization into their datacenters to reduce their carbon footprint.

"Learning just one technique to increase reliability or reduce response time more than justifies attendance at CMG. CMG is the organization of record for systems management, performance evaluation, and capacity planning," added Domanski.

CMG conference attendees (nearly 700) seek and share expertise in evaluating and deploying complex computer systems that are optimized for cost and quality of service. Members include professional capacity management and performance evaluation personnel from the largest corporations and organizations worldwide. CMG helps its members meet the challenges of new computing architectures and directions while keeping ahead of emerging technologies. Over 25 of the top performance and capacity tool vendors participated in CMG’s trade show, adding to the value gained by conference attendees.

The Computer Measurement Group (www.cmg.org) is a not for profit, worldwide organization of performance and capacity management professionals committed to ensuring the quality of IT service delivery to the business.
