About the Sessions

The History and Future of AI | Bryan Knouse

AI: Where we came from, where we are, and where we are going with a particular focus on natural language technology. This talk is for everyone: non-technical individuals will appreciate the conceptual breadth and CTOs will enjoy the dips into present theory powering the space.

About the speaker: I am a software developer living in Brooklyn, New York. I live for software and technology. I have created solutions for the smallest cafes to the largest banks. I have worked with marketing agencies to build creative, impactful advertising campaigns as well as early-stage blockchain companies building the first applications that appeared on the Ethereum network. Technology is my passion and I truly enjoy working with other devoted individuals who seek to evolve our understanding of technology and its impact. Currently, I am focused on conversational data analytics through at http://www.rapidinfluence.com/ More info at http://www.knou.se/

AIOps: Why Now & Where do I Start?

The highly complex nature of today’s hybrid IT environments is challenging traditional monitoring approaches. IT leaders are increasingly exploring algorithmic IT and artificial intelligence as the means to detect and predict problems faster while prescribing automated self-healing and recovery processes. However, these goals are compromised by siloed monitoring tools—each with their own unique and separate data model. AIOps enables a move away from siloed operations management, providing intelligent insights that drive automation and collaboration for continuous improvement across complex IT infrastructures. By adopting a federated data model, IT Ops teams can have the analytical foundation upon which to collect, group, correlate and visualize more complex performance conditions spanning mobile to mainframe to cloud. This session will explore a flexible and open-ended approach allowing every data source and condition to be analyzed and interpreted in the context of shared team goals and critical business outcomes.

About the Speaker: David Myers is a Product Management Advisor at Broadcom Inc. He is a member of the Intelligent Operations and Automation team, responsible for delivering AIOps, predictive performance and availability solutions for hybrid IT environments. Dave has extensive experience with DevOps methodologies across mobile, cloud, distributed, and System z environments, including 15 years as a software engineer working with government, banking, insurance, and finance customers; designing, developing, and modernizing heterogeneous JEE/.NET-System z applications and workloads.

The Future of Voice Interaction | Stephen Mallik

Imagine Alexa inside your website and you can talk to your application to do e-commerce, banking, and more. We use keyboard mouse and touch to interact with software every day. Why not voice?  In the future, I believe we will be talking to all software as we use touch currently.

About the Speaker: Stephen Mallik is a successful technology entrepreneur who previously co-founded and exited a company in the business process outsourcing industry. Additionally, Stephen is also an IT Industry veteran with a career spanning 20 years, having worked for large corporations like Citibank, Sprint, BP, AT&T and T-Mobile.

Stephen has experience working with startups as a seed investor and chief technology officer where he is hands-on and commands in-depth software development skills along with a canny leadership ability to inspire team members to create a following.

He is an expert in NLP (Natural Language Processing), NLU (Natural Language Understanding) among other AI learning methods. In the last 3 years, Stephen has pioneered a voice intelligent system that can bring voice capabilities to the enterprise software industry. As a result of Stephen’s work on voice technology, he has applied for multiple patents that are in the provisional stage. He holds a Master’s in Computers Science and a Bachelor’s of Science in Physics from the University of Madras. Stephen is originally from South India, has a beautiful family with two wonderful kids and a personal motto to progress along the scale of wisdom, happiness, and love.

Performance Assurance for ML and AI Applications | Dr. Boris Zibitsker

More than 85% of Big Data projects incorporating ML and AI algorithms fail to meet expectations according to a Gartner study.

Complexity of the environment, dynamic and constantly growing workloads and growing volume of data make it difficult to predict the outcome of the different changes, set realistic expectations and be proactive in managing workloads and resources.

In this presentation, we will review the role of Performance Assurance and present several use cases illustrating applications of Performance Assurance during the entire applications life cycle.

About the Speaker: Dr. Boris Zibitsker is the CEO of BEZNext, a technology consultancy that focuses on Big Data Performance Assurance and offers services based on advanced analytics. As a software developer, He has lead research and development of predictive analytics software tools for Teradata, Oracle and DB2 Data Warehouse environments. Boris is also a frequent writer and international speaker, and lecturer.

A Practical Guide for Information Discovery leveraging Artificial Intelligence | Quin Gregor

You are asked by senior management to recover all records around the creation of one of your companies best selling products. Senior management needs this “now”.  How do you start?   Where do you look?  What constitutes “all”?  This presentation will provide practical guidance and discuss how technologies can be leveraged to reduce this task complexity, using a combination of AI, ML and specialized tools and visualizations.

About the speaker: Quin Gregor, CTO at Orca AI,  is a technologist with a deep background in software development, high-performance computing, AI, large-scale information analytics, data forensics and IT operations. For over 30 years, he was worked across numerous industries, ranging from oil & gas exploration through to legal.  His focus is on how to make sense of large data stores and how to bring dark data back to life.  With his experience at the IT operations level, he understands the complexities faced by technicians who are challenged with managing and making sense of petabyte-scale data lakes and repositories.

AI for Software Testing | Jason Arbon

AI will fundamentally transform software testing. Testers make quick judgments based on data. AI makes even quicker judgments based on far more data. No area of software testing will be left unchanged by AI. In this presentation, Jason demonstrates how AI is directly applicable to all aspects of testing: functional regression automation, exploratory testing, test data generation, performance, and even qualitative measures of quality such as trustworthiness, usability, and more. Jason applies neural networks, reinforcement learning, and clustering to testing problems and shares the methods and results. Jason also discusses how AI makes test artifacts reusable, and how this will change software testing forever. Join and see the future of software testing powered by AI.

About the speaker: Jason Arbon is the CEO at test.ai where his mission is to test all the worlds apps. Google’s AI investment arm lead test.ai’s latest funding round. Jason previously worked on several large-scale products: web search at Google and Bing, the web browsers Chrome and Internet Explorer, operating systems such as Windows and ChromeOS, and crowd-sourced testing at uTest.com.  Jason has also co-authored books such as How Google Tests Software and App Quality: Secrets for Agile App Teams.
