Making the case for cloud and containers to non-engineers in your organization

Abstract:

As an engineer, the reasons for embarking on the journey towards containerization and cloud-native architecture might seem obvious. But for organizations with existing applications, moving towards a more cloud native architecture requires a massive investment of human and financial resources. In this talk, Emily Omier will discuss how engineering leaders can translate the reasons for adopting the cloud and containers into language that business leadership will understand. Emily will cover how to start the conversation about cloud as well as how to keep business leaders in the loop on the cloud transition, using metrics and language that are meaningful to both business and technical stakeholders. Cloud transformations are most successful when everyone in the organization is invested in the outcome and understands why it is important. Don’t let communication failures derail your cloud journey.
