February 9, 2022MongoDB, Capital One, and Softcity Group were recognized during the 2022 CMG conference.
Atlanta, GA USA February 8, 2022 – The Computer Measurement Group, CMG, with its partner Mullen Foundation announced last week that Capital One was the recipient of the 2022 IMPACT Innovation Award for its Opticloud invention (patent pending). The awards program, which is in its first year, was created to recognize individuals and teams who have driven IT improvements to drive significant change and extraordinary outcomes within their organizations. After showcasing the finalists’ entries, Capital One was named the winner.
The winning project, Opticloud, is a self-service right-sizing tool that evaluates optimal sizing for cost and performance for AWS services. This invention (patent pending) has helped Capital One teams save millions of dollars of cloud expenses.
Finalist MongoDB was recognized for Distributed System Infrastructure (DSI), their framework for running fully automated system performance tests in their continuous integration (CI) environment. DSI is MongoDB’s most used and most useful performance testing tool. It runs more than three hundred different benchmarks in daily CI, and it is also used for manual performance investigations.
After facing the potential loss of business from COVID, Lagos-based Softcity Group developed a business continuity management system that automated the tracking of business continuity KPIs. This saved Softcity Group from a major disaster worth over 500 Million Naira (approx 1 million Dollars) in damages on managed client infrastructure.
“We were very impressed at the results that our finalists and winners achieved,” said Amanda Hendley, President and Managing Director of CMG. “Our winner, Capital One, was selected for addressing a very real problem with a huge impact within their organization. Additionally, Igor Trubin and the team at Capital One have been very active in sharing what they learned within the IT community. This kind of peer-to-peer learning is at the heart of CMG’s mission.”
