Hybrid Cloud and Operational Analytics
The days of wasting time and valuable resources by reacting to issues in a war room are numbered. Mainframe customers will need to be more proactive in identifying potential issues before their end-users are impacted. The journey to hybrid and multicloud will require continued real time analysis of both message and metric data that can be used to detect when operations begin to deviate from a company’s normal operational baseline.

Performance Reporting & Capacity Planning – How Analytics has improved for System z clients
The role of the capacity planner, especially on the mainframe, has been critical to ensure capital and operational costs are accurately managed and performance is optimized. The skills required are often learned over many years and are dependent on multiple, often homegrown, tooling. In the modern hybrid cloud world, the ability for a capacity planner to understand and advocate for the mainframe is essential as workloads become interconnected and less predictable. The session will cover the skills needed by the modern capacity planner on the mainframe, including how the increased use of analytics and machine learning technologies help inform decision making and ensure the mainframe remains a key part of the enterprise architecture.

Abstract
Opening up System z – API Enablement & Management
We realize that our clients have a huge investment in Z and they still have a huge amount of their mission-critical systems that drive their business on a day to day basis on Z. Because of that, we believe that this hybrid approach is the right one to help you get the most out of the existing investment you’ve got. In general, we see the days of rip and replace long gone. It’s too costly, it takes too much time and ultimately, if everything works as planned, after two or three years, you still have the same base capability that you did before. The world is moving way too fast, the lines of business need action now. So, what you see here today, is really a simple story that lays out the strategy to unify connectivity to System z, open up the platform, and securely manage in hybrid cloud world.
